Is Facebook a vital part of communicating and making friends these days?

Question: Is Facebook a vital part of communicating and making friends these days?
I have deleted my Facebook account a long time ago and I have lost contact with a lot of people and no one ever seems to contact me anymore. This has made me question if a social networking account is as vital as having a mobile phone these days if you’re young (meaning under 25). Do people even text anymore?

Is it the fact I have people in my life who aren’t really my friends or is it that Facebook is a vital part of communicating with people these days?

This is not the answer you are looking for, but real life is always the best thing. It is more difficult to hide behind a screen than real eyes. I know I am going to get bashed for this, but it is my belief.

It’s the face you aren’t calling them to hang out. It’s a two way street. Facebook makes it easier to plan stuff because sometimes people miss their text messages and phone calls.
